San Antonio has to be one of the most vibrant cities in Texas. From the legendary Battle of the Alamo where heroes like Davy Crockett emerged, to the thriving Hispanic culture that is still so well represented, the city truly offers something for everyone. Whether you’re strolling the River Walk on a solo trip, at a national conference, biking to the different missions, or on a romantic anniversary, there are so many things this city has for you.

SpringHill Suites by Marriott

I believe this was my first SpringHill Suites to stay in. I was attending a conference and this was the sponsored hotel for the event. The hotel was close to the airport so we had some flyover noise, but it wasn’t bad. It helps keep the cost low so that’s a convenience. The room was very nice, the staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The breakfast in the morning was wonderful. The highlight is the INDOOR pool with a lovely drop down water feature. It does make it a bit loud in the enclosed room but we took a bluetooth speaker with our favorite tunes & had a fab time in the water. Recommended!

Follow the iconic colored umbrellas to the oldest restaurant (and business) on the River. It’s a must to try a prickly pear margarita. But beware that they do not take reservations so if you go during a busy time of year, busy time of day, or weekend you may see wait times over an hour, especially if you want to sit at an outdoor table. It’s also important to know that tourists and those walking along the River will constantly flow by as you dine at one of the tables, so it can be a challenge for those with sensory sensitivities. Trust me, though, it can be worth it for the memory as it’s truly an iconic thing to do in Texas.
54th Street Restaurant and Drafthouse

After a nice time in the SuiteHill’s pool we were famished and looking for a local place we can’t find in Houston. After searching on Google, we found 54th Street. They serve a little of everything so it’s great for dining with multiple people. When walking in our eyes were looking EVERYWHERE, with tons of things in the ceiling, like elephants and airplanes. We waited about 30 minutes on a Friday night, but that’s a good sign, right? My margarita was great! I ordered the Havana Club and it was SO tasty! The fries were good too. I gave 5 stars for decor and tasty food.
