San Jose, Alajuela, Costa Rica

We flew in and out of San Jose Airport for our Costa Rica trip. It was a great place to start a road trip as they have really accessible shops like Walmart to get a cooler, snacks, and drinks for your trip. While in the area we decided to stay for a few days at the Xandari resort, in one of their villas. BEAUTIFUL views from each of their villas. (The post feature image is our view.) I loved watching the sunrise each day, and set from their infinity pool and hot tub!

The view during breakfast each day.
Xandari also has 5 waterfalls on their property to explore. Our morning workout!

We used Costa Rica Guides to book our Day Trip around the area. We ended up visiting Doka Coffee Plantation, Paos Volcano, and La Paz Waterfall Gardens. An amazing (and tiring day)!

Doka tour was really informational about Costa Rica’s famously good coffee.
The cat sanctuary at La Paz was absolutely incredible.
La Paz had LOTS of difficult animal species.

La Paz Waterfall Gardens is one of the most incredible attractions in the area. You can visit hundreds of animals in their animal sanctuary before taking a really fun walk to the incredible water falls that are many, many stories high. The energy that the waterfalls holds is just amazing. The stairs and walking platforms La Paz has is extremely accessible. Once you climb all the way down, rather than climb back up at other waterfalls, you’ll go through their (really good) gift shop and take transportation back to the main cabin, or your tour bus will pick you up if you’re on an organized tour. One of my top Costa Rica attractions!
